Dilbert: Some prominent media publishers are dropping the comic strip Dilbert after its creator, Scott Adams, referred to people who are Black as members of “a hate group” and urged white people to "get away" from them

Adams: “If nearly half of all Blacks are not OK with white people ... that’s a hate group. And I don’t want anything to do with them,” Adams said Wednesday. “And based on how things are going, the best advice I could give to white people is to get the hell away from Black people. Just get the f— away. Wherever you have to go, just get away. ’Cause there’s no fixing this. This can’t be fixed.”
“So I think it makes no sense whatsoever, as a white citizen of America, to try to help Black citizens anymore,” Adams continued. “It doesn’t make sense. There’s no longer a rational impulse. And so I’m going to back off from being helpful to Black America, because it doesn’t seem like it pays off. Like I’ve been doing it all my life and the only outcome is I get called a racist.”
From NPR: “Despite Adams' unapologetic stance, Keith Knight hopes that the Dilbert creator's departure from newspapers will be an opportunity for a more diverse group of artists to share their work, adding that the industry can be tough for artists of color to break into.”
The Washington Post suggests Adams comments are “promoting segregation”? Does the media have a hand in the narrative of stories, especially when they involve minorities?
Marky Mark: Gets gruff for presenting SAG award to Asian cast because he assaulted two Vietnamese people when he was 16 in the 1980s? Is there no such thing as forgiveness. He served his time for the assaults. Is this Cancel Culture?
Another Day Dawns: Concert at the River Street Jazz Café. Opening acts Portland Frank (friends Chad and Marty) and Ken Norton. Covers of Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Stone Temple Pilots (Interstate Love Song). Then they plugged in! Faithful TBLS listener and reader (and subscriber) Jason M. from Olyphant accompanied me. Saw some interesting things!
