Tonight, we welcome Chris von Ahnen, the new Executive Director of The Deutsch Institute, which has been serving the Northeast Region of Pennsylvania since 1979 and is dedicated to developing and expanding resources and opportunities in order to improve health and well being for persons with special needs.

In addition to being an adjunct economics instructor at Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pa., Chris’ past work experiences include:

  • Director of Employment Services at Goodwill Industries of Northeastern PA

  • Director of Career Options and Development at Human Resources Center Inc.

  • Case Manager/Job Developer at PA Career Link

We’re excited to speak to Chris about his career path, career advice he’s received, career advice he would give to others, and finding his true passion, which he discovered after returning to the workforce following his successful treatment for cancer.

ON TOP: Chris has successfully completed the 7.6 mile, 5,000 foot ascent up Vermont’s Mount Washington.

Also a cyclist, Chris shares some stories from the road, including climbing Mt. Washington in Vermont. A lifelong pro wrestling fan, we also discuss Chris’ fandom with WWE and other independent organizations, including his reaction to this year’s Royal Rumble.
