A Look Inside Scrumdiddly Kitchen

Tell us about your background: An educator by day, Mary also has years of experience in the food service and restaurant business. Since she’s been a little girl in her grandmother’s kitchen, she has been passionate about food.
Tell us about moving forward with the idea: Mary brought the idea to reality in only a few of months! After finding the perfect location, she applied for and won a Spark Grant for new business owners through the Wilkes Barre Chamber of Commerce and worked with members of the small business development center to create a business plan, and used her network of friends and associates, including fiancé Glenn, to bring her dream to reality.
What motivates Mary?: Coming from a lower-income family, and losing her father just weeks after graduating high school, Mary is thankful for both of her parents, and the sacrifices they made.
What will parties look like? With 2,700 sq. ft. of space, Scrumdiddly can accommodate parties up to 30 people, with an ideal class size of 24.
We ask Mary if she could invite three people to Scrumdiddly for dinner. Who’s coming and what are you cooking? And Brian digs deep into Mary’s macaroni and cheese recipe from Grandm’s vault.
News of the Weird: Strays Gone Wild in Houston; Kentucky phones E.T. home!
What would be your message to anyone thinking about opening their own business? Mary’s advice to other entrepreneurs: Go for your passion, don’t second guess yourself, be confident and map out your ideas on paper.
